OFF CAMPUS RESIDENCE LIFE!!!

Hey Beautiful people we are back at it again. Hopefully, you guys had a blessed week and are still going to enjoy more days to come.

So, since all my housemates are gone for the weekend, I thought why not tell you guys about my experience as a first-year staying at a residence and sharing it's not all bad so I will be telling you guys about the disadvantages and advantages of having housemates with a touch of what the building I currently stay in has that will make sure as a student you have fun and socialize with other people here.

LIVING@MPUMELELO

So firstly, maybe some first years for 2023 might be interested in applying to this res as it will be convenient for them the name of it is " LIVING@MPUMELELO" and it is located in Doornfontein. So, when you apply search that on google and it shall appear. And if you are an NSFAS student no need to worry as this accommodation is accredited by NSFAS. With this res, there is an entertainment area with a pool table and a cinema room and for those who love playing games like me there is a gaming room with games, or you can bring your own. Also, there is a gym and a relaxing area for you to just take out your academic stress. Very important if you don't have a laptop, you can use the computer room downstairs and if you do and you just need space from your housemates then there is a study room where you can get all your work done. And on Weekends if you don't feel like going out there is a rooftop with a braai area, and you can chill and enjoy the view.

LAUNDRY

ADVANTAGES

It comes with 24 hours security and for those who are lazy to do laundry, there is a laundry room for you to wash your clothes all you need is the tokens you receive, or you can use two rands to do it. Just opposite the building, you find a mini mall where you can get stuff and food from Shoprite but if you don't shop at Shoprite, you can be like me and get the pick n pay app and order everything online cause from the res Pick n Pay is a bit far. I personally was able to make quite a few guy friends because of gaming and soccer and two girlfriends out of the 5 housemates I have so I am hardly bored when I am at res. And even if my housemates are not here you can post in the group chat who wants to have a game night or watch movies then you get someone interested. I found a sister out of my roommate as she is the best roommate ever take care of me when I am sick, I really could have not asked for a better roomie. It is a walking distance to the DFC campus, and you can even see the campus from your window.

DISADVANTAGES

I don't even know where to start for me the only reason it was a bad experience is that I am from a very quiet neighborhood and this res is located in the CBD of Joburg when you are sleeping at night you hear gunshots or screams. Also, it is very from the campus I attend as I have to take a 30-minute bus drive and I get car sick. The worst out of the above is having unhygienic housemates no matter how many times you tell them to clean up after themselves they never do. Everywhere you go the floor is sticky and the stove be dirty they leave their dishes until they have a bad smell, and they just don't care about hygiene. On top of that, they have attitude, and they don't speak to the entire house. As students, we really can't have a house of six students but only 4 clean out of the six. We are sharing for a reason, and we need to work together. In the morning they would wake up and play the music from their churches very loud not keeping in mind that we all come from different backgrounds, and we don't listen to the same music or believe in one person. Another thing they like cooking traditional stuff in the kitchen and making the house smell some type of way instead of doing it when everyone is not at res.

But let me not say too much hope you guys enjoyed reading this one and a piece of advice choose your Residence wise and try staying with people you know cause 10 months of staying with people you cannot communicate with is very bad.

THANKS FOR READING, HAVE A BLESSED WEEK
